Preview: Geneva Panthers vs. Andalusia Bulldogs
Geneva has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Andalusia Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Geneva focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Friday.
Geneva can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game. They blew past Slocomb 56-8 at home. Given Geneva's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 97th, while Slocomb is ranked 423rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kaden Ward continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Rayanna Ausley was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Andalusia had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 points), and they went ahead and made it three last Saturday. They put the hurt on Opp with a sharp 50-25 victory.
Geneva's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Andalusia, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with that win, which was their third straight on the road.
Geneva took their victory against Andalusia in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 60-38. The rematch might be a little tougher for Geneva since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
