Basketball Game Preview: Charlotte Christian Knights vs. Providence Day Chargers

Charlotte Christian is 0-10 against Providence Day since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Charlotte Christian Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Providence Day Chargers at 5:30 p.m.

Charlotte Christian is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Friday. They were outmatched by Charlotte Country Day School and fell 66-18. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 473rd, while the Buccaneers are ranked 69th).

Meanwhile, Providence Day entered their tilt with Cannon on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 42-40 win over the Cougars. That's two games straight that the Chargers have won by exactly two points.

Charlotte Christian better focus on containing Ginny Anne Dumont and Ellie Fyans as the pair were huge in Providence Day's win. Dumont posted 16 points and six boards, while Fyans put up eight points and six rebounds. Dumont has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Marlo Stuart also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Providence Day's victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Charlotte Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.

Charlotte Christian was dealt a bruising 52-5 loss at the hands of Providence Day in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Dumont, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points along with six assists and six steals.
