Basketball Recap: Mountain Ridge Takes a Loss

Mountain Ridge lost against Pinnacle back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions took a hard 88-74 fall against the Pinnacle Pioneers. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Thursday (64), the Mountain Lions still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain Ridge lost, don't look at Jaiden Thompson. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 12 en route to 20 points along with six assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Donovan, who went 9 for 17 on his way to 22 points.

Pinnacle's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ryan Nelson led the charge by going 8 of 16 en route to 20 points in addition to eight boards and six assists. The dominant performance gave Nelson a new career-high in rebounds. Tyonne Brown also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assists of the season.

Mountain Ridge dropped their record down to 9-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Pinnacle, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12.

While Mountain Ridge had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
