Basketball Game Preview: Cody Broncs vs. Pinedale Wranglers

Cody has won 11 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Pinedale has won 11 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Cody Broncs will welcome the Pinedale Wranglers at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Cody is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Wyoming's top teams: Lovell, who was ranked 20th at the time (Cody was ranked second). Cody blew past Lovell, posting a 64-12 victory. The Broncs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Pinedale's game on Saturday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They walked away with a 67-54 win over Lander Valley. The victory continues a trend for the Wranglers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.

Pinedale's win came from a few key players Cody will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Elyn Bowers, who went 10-for-21 on her way to 25 points and six steals. The match was her 32nd in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Erica Wilson, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 20 points and four steals.

Cody's win bumped their record up to 14-3. As for Pinedale, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.

Everything came up roses for Cody against Pinedale when the teams last played back in February of 2018, as the squad secured a 56-23 win. Will Cody repeat their success, or does Pinedale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
