Basketball Game Preview: Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets vs. Southwest EC Eagles

The Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets will take on the Southwest EC Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palo Verde Valley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Palo Verde Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Holtville 76-49.

Palo Verde Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yasias Green, who went 12 for 17 en route to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. What's more, Green also racked up three blocks, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Zaraivion Crowe was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten boards.

Palo Verde Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Southwest EC lost 69-47 to Brawley on Tuesday. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Palo Verde Valley will have to contain Genaro Diaz as he made an impact in Southwest EC's last game. He went 9 of 13 on his way to 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Figueroa, who posted five points and four steals.

Southwest EC's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Palo Verde Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Palo Verde Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Southwest EC in their previous meeting last Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 53-48 win.
