Baseball Recap: Oceanside Comes Up Short

Oceanside had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 9-19 to make it five. They came up short against the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns, falling 8-1. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Longhorns earlier this season, when they won 6-3.

As for Rancho Buena Vista, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-18. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games.

For Rancho Buena Vista's part, Ty Lowry made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Lowry is becoming a predictor of Rancho Buena Vista's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 8-17 when he doesn't). Lowry was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other pitching news, Tyler Saldana-Mu?oz looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Connor Repchinuck was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaden Mueller, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As of now, neither Oceanside nor Rancho Buena Vista have any future games scheduled.
