Basketball Recap: Rock Canyon Falls Despite Big Games from Davis May and Jacob David

Rock Canyon lost against ThunderRidge back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Rock Canyon Jaguars took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the ThunderRidge Grizzlies.

Rock Canyon's loss came despite strong showings from Jacob David and Davis May. David went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points, while May went 6 for 9 on his way to 17 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave May a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Cooper Ellwood, who posted two points and four steals.

ThunderRidge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Drew Paine, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Ulysses Brown was another key player, going 7 of 9 en route to 15 points and six boards.

Rock Canyon now has a losing record at 8-9. As for ThunderRidge, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

Rock Canyon and ThunderRidge should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings. Rock Canyon will take on Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday up 113 places (33 vs. 146). Meanwhile, ThunderRidge (ranked seventh) will meet Ponderosa (ranked 164th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
