Baseball Recap: Alma Has No Trouble Against Bath

Alma never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Bath Fighting Bees. The victory was some much needed relief for the Panthers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Gideon Sacco made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Alma is undefeated when Sacco allows three or fewer hits, but 6-7-1 otherwise. Sacco was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ethan Helinski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Alma's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 6-7-1 when he doesn't).

Alma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The last time their batting average was this high was in their last nine matches.

Alma's win bumped their record up to 9-7-1. As for Bath, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.

Looking ahead, Alma will take on Lakeview at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bath, they are taking a road trip to face off against Perry at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Bees are facing the Ramblers at the right time seeing as the Ramblers are stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
