Softball Recap: Morgan Huskies vs. East Lyme Vikings
Morgan had lost 18 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 0-16 to make it 19. They lost 23-2 to the East Lyme Vikings. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2015.
As for East Lyme, they moved to 5-12 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For East Lyme's part, Lorelei Gronholm and Emma VanDusen did most of the damage at the plate: Gronholm got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double, while VanDusen went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three runs gave Gronholm a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Hyatt, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Morgan has already played their next contest (against Haddam-Killingworth), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for East Lyme, they have also already played their next game, a 10-9 win against Guilford on the 20th.
