Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Vernon Mustangs vs. Solon Spartans

The Mt. Vernon Mustangs will take on the Solon Spartans on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mt. Vernon comes in on 21 and Solon on four.

Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Mt. Vernon against Vinton-Shellsburg as the team secured a 68-23 win. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 games by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Solon was able to grind out a solid victory over Assumption on Saturday, taking the game 51-39.

Mt. Vernon pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33.8 points. As for Solon, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Mt. Vernon took their win against Solon when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 57-33. Will Mt. Vernon repeat their success, or does Solon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
