Basketball Game Preview: Wallowa Cougars vs. Joseph Eagles

Wallowa is 2-8 against Joseph since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Wallowa Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Joseph Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Wallowa will be strutting in after a win while Joseph will be coming in after a loss.

Wallowa is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took down Pine Eagle 61-46 on Saturday.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 87-42, which was the final score in Joseph's tilt against Union on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Bobcats are ranked 95th).

Joseph dropped their record down to 5-14 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Wallowa, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-15 record this season.

Wallowa didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Joseph when the teams last played two weeks ago, but they still walked away with a 44-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wallowa since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
