Volleyball Recap: Alhambra Moors vs. South El Monte Eagles
After flying high against Temple City on Thursday, Alhambra came back down to earth. The Moors came up short against the South El Monte Eagles on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Moors of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2024.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-8, 25-18.
Leading South El Monte to victory were Elise Gonzalez and Natalie Gaytan. Gonzalez had 11 digs and four aces, while Gaytan had 15 digs. Gonzalez is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last five games she's played.
Alhambra dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for South El Monte, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-4.
Looking ahead, Alhambra will venture away from home to challenge Blair at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for South El Monte, they will host Sierra Vista at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
