Softball Recap: Erie Gets the Win

The matchup between Erie and Meadville on Tuesday hardly resembled the 4-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Royals came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 13-10. With that victory, the Royals brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Hannah Nicklas, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madison Wolfram, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Erie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.1 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 9.8.

The win got Erie back to even at 7-7. As for Meadville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.
