Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Pointe Pride vs. Campo Verde Coyotes

The Mountain Pointe Pride will head out on the road to challenge the Campo Verde Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Pointe will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Mountain Pointe picked up another tournament win on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Milwaukie 3-2. That's two games straight that the Pride have won by just one run.

Mountain Pointe's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ivan Lopez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Jacob Francisco also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Campo Verde, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Arizona College Prep on Thursday as Campo Verde made off with a 12-6 win. Considering the Coyotes have won six matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Campo Verde also got a great performance from Luke Girard as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Rauch, who scored three runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Ezekiel Zion was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Campo Verde kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mountain Pointe pushed their record up to 5-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Campo Verde, their record is now 8-6.

Mountain Pointe suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Campo Verde in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Mountain Pointe avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
