Basketball Recap: Thanasi Papazis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Sun Valley over Porter Ridge

Sun Valley was the 52-46 winner over Porter Ridge when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Sun Valley Spartans fell 57-44 to the Porter Ridge Pirates on Friday. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 18-13 in the first quarter.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Thanasi Papazis, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points along with six assists and six rebounds. TJ Pinckney was another key player, putting up 12 points and eight boards.

Sun Valley has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for Porter Ridge, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 4-14 record.

Sun Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 51-41 defeat against Cuthbertson on the 28th. Porter Ridge has also already played their next contest, a 74-54 loss against Marvin Ridge on the 28th.
