Doral Academy has gone a perfect 4-0 against Somerset Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Doral Academy Firebirds will be playing at home against the Somerset Academy Panthers at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Doral Academy: 3.8, Somerset Academy: 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Somerset Academy will be up against a hot Doral Academy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Doral Academy was the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over ABF Academy on Friday. With that victory, the Firebirds brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Gabriel Milano was a standout: he got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Ruvalcaba, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3.
Doral Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Somerset Academy never let their opponents score on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Deerfield Beach 1-0. The one-run effort marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Liam DeCicco looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Somerset Academy's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jon Mora, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Doral Academy pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Somerset Academy, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Doral Academy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Somerset Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Doral Academy's way against Somerset Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as Doral Academy made off with an 8-2 victory.
