Appomattox County is 8-2 against Nelson County since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Raiders will venture away from home to face off against the Governors at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Appomattox County took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Altavista a 10-0 shutout. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Isaac Records looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Appomattox County is 3-1 when Records allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Micah Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Evan Carwile also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Appomattox County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Nelson County waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Generals with a sharp 12-0 victory. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Governors this season.
Lekota Shaver was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Brody Clements was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.
Nelson County's record now sits at 4-2. As for Appomattox County, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Appomattox County came out on top in a nail-biter against Nelson County in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Governors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
