Softball Game Preview: Franklin Towne Warriors vs. Science Leadership Academy

The Franklin Towne Warriors are taking a road trip to take on Science Leadership Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Franklin Towne will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Franklin Towne proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 15) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Central 5-4. The five-run effort marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Abigail Pelczar was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.3 stolen bases per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan DeLaurentis, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, Science Leadership Academy was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They fell 5-2 to George Washington.

Science Leadership Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Marisa Phan, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Sofiya Kieselowsky also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Franklin Towne's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.6 runs this season. As for Science Leadership Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Science Leadership Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Franklin Towne hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .412. It's a different story for Science Leadership Academy, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Franklin Towne's hitters?

Everything went Franklin Towne's way against Science Leadership Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Franklin Towne made off with a 9-3 victory.
