Softball Recap: Mallard Creek Find Success

The matchup between Mallard Creek and West Mecklenburg on Tuesday hardly resembled the 0-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Mavericks beat the Hawks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-2. The victory continues a trend for the Mavericks in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won nine in a row.

Madison Williams made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Joanna Brito was incredible, firing off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makaila Murray, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Mallard Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mallard Creek's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for West Mecklenburg, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.
