Volleyball Recap: Mayde Creek Takes a Loss

The Mayde Creek Rams didn't have quite enough to beat the Cy-Fair Bobcats on Friday and fell 3-2. While the Rams didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Bobcats 25-14 in the first set.

Mayde Creek came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 14-25, 25-23, 16-25, 25-23, 15-12.

Serenity Williams paced Mayde Creek's offense, picking up 19 kills. Williams got some help from Autumn Wimberely and her 45 assists. Williams was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Among those leading the charge was Pearson Noone, who had 22 digs and three aces. Those 22 digs gave her a new career-high.

Mayde Creek's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Cy-Fair, their record is now 6-8.

Mayde Creek and Cy-Fair could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Rams (ranked 590th) will meet Jordan (ranked 155th) at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cy-Fair will challenge Deer Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (568 vs. 185).
