Volleyball Game Preview: New Britain Golden Hurricanes vs. Southington Blue Knights

New Britain is 1-6 against Southington since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Golden Hurricanes will venture away from home to challenge the Blue Knights at 6:00 p.m.

New Britain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Hall, who was ranked 19th at the time (New Britain was ranked eighth). The Golden Hurricanes lost 3-0 to the Titans on Friday.

New Britain was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-16, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Southington had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Windsor 3-0 on Friday.

New Britain's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Southington, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

New Britain came out on top in a nail-biter against Southington when the teams last played back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Hurricanes since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
