Baseball Recap: Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic Finds Playoff Glory Versus Father Judge

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic walked away with it. They had just enough and edged out the Father Judge Crusaders 5-3. Surprisingly, this marked the Friars/Pandas' seventh straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Danny Buckton looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Michael Coleman, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Friel, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Father Judge, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.

Coming up, Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast Catholic will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against La Salle College at 4:00 p.m. The Explorers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Friars/Pandas' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Father Judge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
