Softball Preview: Cascade Bruins vs. Stanwood Spartans
After three games on the road, Cascade is heading back home. They will take on the Stanwood Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Cascade had to settle for a 7-5 defeat against Shorecrest.
Meanwhile, Stanwood can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Marysville-Pilchuck with a sharp 16-1 victory. The win was just what Stanwood needed coming off of a 6-0 loss in their prior match.
Megan Stulc made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Stulc was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-1 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.
In other batting news, Stanwood got a massive performance out of Rubi Lopez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Reagan Ryan was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Cascade's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Stanwood, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
