Softball Recap: Wells Takes Down Pyramid Lake in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Wells walked away with it. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Pyramid Lake Lakers on Saturday. That's two games straight that the Leopards have won by exactly five runs.

Aryanna Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, Adriana Aguilar was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mayte Casas, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Wells pushed their record up to 20-7 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.6 runs over those games. As for Pyramid Lake, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-7.

Wells will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Lakers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
