Baseball Game Preview: Pine-Richland Rams vs. Kiski Area Cavaliers

The Pine-Richland Rams are taking a road trip to face off against the Kiski Area Cavaliers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Pine-Richland's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Kiski Area's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

While Pine-Richland's victory against Knoch wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Knights 11-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Gavin Stugart was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Cody Cutone also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Kiski Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Penn-Trafford.

Kiski Area also got a good showing from Austin Bachar, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave Bachar a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, John Deluca was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Zach Hald was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Pine-Richland pushed their record up to 14-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Kiski Area, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
