Baseball Preview: Mount Vernon Majors vs. Edison Eagles        
        
		
            Mount Vernon hasn't had much luck against Edison recently, but that could start to change  on Friday. The Majors will be playing at home against the Eagles  at 6:00  p.m. Both come into the  game bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
Mount Vernon is headed in fresh off scoring the most  runs they have   all season. They put the hurt on Lewis with a sharp  22-3 win on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Majors considering their two-run performance the  matchup before.
 Gideon Toy made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he  didn't allow a single  hit and  allowed only two  earned runs while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. Toy was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-5 with two  runs, one  triple,  and two  RBI. That  triple was  his first of the season.

 In other batting news,  Noah Toy was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one  home run, five  RBI,  and one  stolen base. Those  five  RBI gave  him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of  Hudson Grimsley, who  scored five  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-5.
 Mount Vernon was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .394. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis only posted a  batting average of  .062.
 Meanwhile, Edison gave up the first  runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them  down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Falls Church, sneaking past  5-4. The  victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won five in a row.
 Mount Vernon now  has a winning record of 3-2. As for Edison, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
 Mount Vernon suffered a grim  12-2 defeat to Edison  when the teams last played  back in April of 2024. Can the Majors avenge their  defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
