Softball Recap: Almond-Bancroft Sets Scoring Season-High Against Pittsville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Almond-Bancroft). They put the hurt on the Pittsville Panthers with a sharp 16-0 win on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by nine runs or more this season.

Riya Ceballos was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Ceballos was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Almond-Bancroft got a massive performance out of Aaliyah Newby, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. Oakley Omernik was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Almond-Bancroft was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pittsville only posted a batting average of .167.

Almond-Bancroft has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Pittsville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
