Basketball Game Preview: South Plaquemines Hurricanes vs. Tara Trojans

The South Plaquemines Hurricanes will venture away from home to take on the Tara Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South Plaquemines is looking for their season's first victory.

South Plaquemines is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They were dealt an 84-45 loss at the hands of De La Salle on Saturday. The Hurricanes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-24.

The losing side was boosted by Deanel McGee, who made all 6 shots he took for 12 points. What's more, he also racked up three rebounds, the most he's had since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Trevontae Williams, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Tara had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They slipped by Woodlawn-B.R. 54-53 on Monday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Trojans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 220th, while the Panthers are ranked 68th).

South Plaquemines' defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Tara, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9.
