Baseball Game Preview: Rigby Trojans vs. Pocatello Thunder

The Rigby Trojans will face off against the Pocatello Thunder at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rigby has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Rigby is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Skyline just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 17-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grizzlies. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Saturday (11), the Trojans still had to take the loss.

Bentley Brower led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Rigby is 2-1 when Brower posts two or more runs, but 7-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gunnar Davis, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Pocatello couldn't beat Bear River on Tuesday even though they stacked five runs on them in the sixth inning. The Thunder fell just short of the Bears by a score of 8-6. The Thunder haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Pocatello saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was EVAN GIESBRECHT, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run. Another was KACHE STUCKI, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Pocatello's loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Rigby, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Rigby might still be hurting after the 19-12 loss they got from Pocatello in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
