Basketball Game Preview: Riverdale Ridge Ravens vs. Boulder Panthers

The Riverdale Ridge Ravens will head out to square off against the Boulder Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Riverdale Ridge comes in on seven and Boulder on five.

Last Tuesday, Riverdale Ridge blew past Brighton, posting a 96-12 win. The Ravens have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boulder). Everything went their way against Mountain Range on Thursday as Boulder made off with a 73-48 victory.

Riverdale Ridge better focus on containing Megan Matthews and Lexi Oder as the pair were huge in Boulder's win. Matthews went 9-for-19 to rack up 26 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals, while Oder dropped a double-double with 22 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Matthews a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabrina Maiorca, who posted eight points along with seven boards and five assists.

Boulder smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 18 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Riverdale Ridge pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 67 points. As for Boulder, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.

Everything came up roses for Riverdale Ridge against Boulder when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 79-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverdale Ridge since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
