Softball Recap: Pell City Find Success

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pell City walked away with it. They came out on top against the Oxford Yellow Jackets by a score of 9-4 on Friday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Kenzy Atkinson tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kherington Keith, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kensley Evans, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Pell City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oxford only posted a batting average of .192.

Pell City's win bumped their record up to 26-16-2. As for Oxford, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-16 record this season.

As of now, neither Pell City nor Oxford have any future games scheduled.
