Recap: Destiny Christian Wildcats vs. Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Destiny Christian Wildcats can now relate to. They had to suffer through a rough 55-24 loss at the hands of Sunrise Christian Academy. Destiny Christian's defeat signaled the end of their nine-game winning streak.
Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Zachary Maturey, who rushed for 101 yards on only eight carries. Maturey was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Jayden Anglin was another key contributor, rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Sunrise Christian Academy was led to victory by Cleve Sutherland and Wade Keller. Sutherland picked up 241 receiving yards and four touchdowns, while Keller threw for 371 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 10.9 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Darren Allison, who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Sunrise Christian Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In that department, Jonah Keller was the leader with two sacks.
Destiny Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Destiny Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sunrise Christian Academy also has no future games currently scheduled.
