Volleyball Game Preview: Artesia Pioneers vs. Oxford Academy Patriots

Artesia hasn't had much luck against Oxford Academy recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Artesia Pioneers are taking a road trip to take on the Oxford Academy Patriots at 3:15 p.m.

Artesia is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Pioneer, falling 3-0. Pioneers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Titans since on Tuesday.

Artesia took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-13, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Oxford Academy had already won three in a row and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Wildcats.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 25-16.

Oxford Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. As for Artesia, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Artesia might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Oxford Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Artesia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
