Softball Game Preview: Riverdale Rams vs. Alleman Pioneers

The Riverdale Rams will venture away from home to take on the Alleman Pioneers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverdale is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Riverdale's offense. They fell 5-0 to Dunlap on Saturday. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Brie DeBlaey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Alleman didn't have quite enough to beat Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] on Monday and fell 8-7. The Pioneers have struggled against the Spartans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Shyann Cetanyan and Sofia Diaz did some serious damage despite the final result: Cetanyan scored three runs and stole two bases, while Diaz scored a run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Kendall Possin, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Riverdale fell to 4-1. As for Alleman, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Riverdale skirted past Alleman 5-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Riverdale since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
