Softball Recap: Rockcastle County Victorious

While Rockcastle County's win against Russell County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rockets had just enough and edged out the Lakers 12-10. The Rockets have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lakers on Friday, too.

Kiley Dunaway was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Macy Spivey was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Rockcastle County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Rockcastle County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Russell County, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rockcastle County will face off against South Laurel at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rockets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Russell County, they will take on Monroe County at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
