Basketball Recap: Amplus Academy Comes Up Short

If Amplus Academy was riding high fresh off their 47-27 takedown of Beaver Dam last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Amplus Academy Archers fell 53-43 to the Cheyenne Desert Shields on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Archers of the 71-45 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.

Diego Cruz was the offensive standout of the contest as he went 6 for 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to six boards and four steals. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Igniz Segovia-Gonzalez, who posted seven points and 14 rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Amplus Academy fell to 2-1. As for Cheyenne, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-7.

Amplus Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 66-52 defeat against Southeast Career Tech on the 12th. As for Cheyenne, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 66-40 loss against Canyon Springs on the 13th.
