Recap: Newtown Nighthawks vs. Torrington Raiders
The Newtown Nighthawks can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. They slipped by Torrington 67-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
When it comes to explaining why Torrington lost, one person who can't be blamed is William Parkhouse. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points. The contest was Parkhouse's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Luca White, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Newtown's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Torrington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newtown will finish 2023 at home by hosting Darien at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Torrington won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Woodland Regional at 7:00 p.m. on December 22nd. Hopefully Woodland Regional focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
