Recap: Reno Huskies vs. Galena Grizzlies
The Reno Huskies's three-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Galena 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Reno has posted yet this season.
Reno got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Yolanda Reyes out in front who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kindle Rowe, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Galena lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mia Turner. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Turner is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. Ramona Peterson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Reno now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Galena, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-15.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reno the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Spanish Springs at 5:15 p.m. on January 19th. Spanish Springs is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.8 points per game. As for Galena, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bishop Manogue at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Manogue is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last 13 games.
