Basketball Recap: Pima Comes Up Short

Pima has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 47-44 heartbreaker at the hands of the Silver Fighting Colts.

Loss or not, Pima got some senior leadership from Sadie Richardson and Kelsi Brimhall. Richardson went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and seven boards, while Brimhall posted 11 points. Macy Allred was another key player, putting up two points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Pima smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive games.

Pima's defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Silver, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Pima will head out to face off against San Tan Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Pima is facing San Tan Charter at the right time seeing as San Tan Charter is stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for Silver, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-11 victory against Santa Teresa on the 4th.
