Baseball Game Preview: Yuma Indians vs. Burlington Cougars

The Yuma Indians will venture away from home to take on the Burlington Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Yuma is coming into the game hot, having won their last 11 games.

Burlington's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Saturday: Yuma hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Indians put the hurt on Holyoke with a sharp 10-0 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won nine contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ty Weathers looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Lennox Huwa was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Marvin Duarte was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Yuma always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .655. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Burlington's offense. They came up short against Las Animas on Tuesday, falling 15-0. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Cougars' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Yuma's record is now 17-4. As for Burlington, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13.

Yuma came out on top in a nail-biter against Burlington in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
