Softball Game Preview: Foard Tigers vs. Lincoln Charter Eagles

The Foard Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Lincoln Charter Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Foard's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Lincoln Charter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Foard's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Hickory 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Karsyn Sigmon made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Foard let Addy Lael and Livi Queen run wild. Lael went 2-for-3 with five stolen bases and two RBI, while Queen scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. With that strong performance, Lael is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Peyton See also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Lincoln Charter's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They lost 7-1 to Maiden. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

The win made it two in a row for Foard and bumps their season record up to 7-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Lincoln Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 11-4.
