Football Recap: Knightdale Gets the Win + How To Watch

While Knightdale's win against South Granville wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Vikings 38-35. Things were looking grim for the Knights in the second quarter (they were down by 22) but they stormed back to get the match.

Jamel Perry continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 318 yards and four touchdowns while completing 74.1% of his passes, and also rushing for 35 yards and one score. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (137). Jalen Moore was another key player, picking up 108 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Another reason for the win was Knightdale's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Kris Jones with two.

Despite the loss, South Granville still got an impressive performance from Jaylen Wilkerson, who rushed for 180 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Wilkerson is now averaging an impressive 101.6 rushing yards per game.

Knightdale's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for South Granville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Knightdale and South Granville will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Knights see the field they'll take on Franklinton at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. As for South Granville, their break will end when they face Cedar Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
