League recap: Wilkes dominating on the mound for St. Petersburg Catholic

3A District 9 league recap: 5/14/12

3A District 9's top pitcher this week was Stewart Wilkes. He won one game and struck out eight batters.

The league's longest active winning streak belongs to St. Petersburg Catholic (20-9, 10-2), undefeated over its last five games. Two of those wins came in the past week, including a 3-2 victory over King's Academy. The team's hottest hitter over the past week was Jimmy Lynch, who had two hits and drove in zero runs.

Calvary Christian boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Warriors have given up a mere 176 hits on the year in addition to compiling 250 strikeouts. Zach Wolfe is the leader in that category with 111 Ks on the season.

Dakota Sarafin led the league with six hits this week for the Barons. His 33 hits for the year are third in the league, and he boasts a .402 batting average.

Dakota Sarafin went 4-4 as St. Petersburg Catholic defeated King's Academy 3-2 on Friday. He also drove in three runners.
