Football Game Preview: Cedar Grove Saints vs. Luella Lions + Official Tickets

The Cedar Grove Saints will take on the Luella Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Cedar Grove nor Luella posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Cedar Grove turned things around against Riverdale on Friday. They managed a 10-6 victory over the Raiders.

Meanwhile, Luella fell victim to Stephenson and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Jaguars and fell 48-0. The Lions have struggled against the Jaguars recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Luella didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Markel Aguirre and Amir Byrd.

Luella now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Cedar Grove, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-5.

Cedar Grove couldn't quite get it done against Luella when the teams last played back in November of 2024 as they fell 35-25. Thankfully for the Saints, R.L. Ward iii (who rushed for 148 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.7 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
