Softball Game Preview: Chardon Hilltoppers vs. Northview Wildcats

The Chardon Hilltoppers will take on the Northview Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chardon will be strutting in after a victory while Northview will be coming in after a defeat.

Chardon took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Kenston by a score of 9-5. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hilltoppers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Alexa Anderson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Anderson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Chardon let Emma Anderson and Savannah Murray run wild. Anderson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Murray went 1-for-3 with one home run. That's the most stolen bases Anderson has posted since back in April of 2024.

Chardon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 4-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Northview fell victim to Anthony Wayne and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Generals, falling 10-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Wildcats have suffered since May 14, 2024.

Chardon pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Northview, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4-1.

Chardon skirted past Northview 8-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Hilltoppers repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
