Baseball Recap: Ingraham Takes a Loss

Ingraham fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against O'Dea on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Fighting Irish by a score of 5-4. The Rams were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fighting Irish earlier this season, when they won 2-1.

Takeshi Malady was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.

At the plate, Brendan Doyle was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Harry Hayes, who went 1-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run.

The defeat snapped Ingraham's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 17-6 record. As for O'Dea, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-11.

Ingraham has already played their next game, a 4-0 loss against Lakeside on the 13th. As for O'Dea, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-2 defeat against Ballard on the 12th.
