Basketball Recap: Desoto Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

DeSoto entered their tilt with West Memphis Christian on Thursday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They took their game with ease, bagging a 65-37 victory over the West Memphis Christian Black Knights. The Thunderbirds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 21 points or more this season.

DeSoto's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Emmy Barnes, who went 7 for 17 on her way to 21 points and five rebounds. Barnes is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Carsyn Gore was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to six assists and five boards.

DeSoto smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive matchups.

DeSoto is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.5 points per game. As for West Memphis Christian, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

DeSoto has already played their next contest, a 65-31 win against Tunica Academy on the 1st. West Memphis Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
