Baseball Game Preview: Grosse Pointe North Norsemen vs. Notre Dame Prep Fighting Irish

Grosse Pointe North has gone a perfect 3-0 against Notre Dame Prep recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Norsemen will welcome the Fighting Irish at 11:00 a.m. Grosse Pointe North will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

On Thursday, Grosse Pointe North was able to grind out a solid win over St. Clair, taking the game 5-1.

Max Praet spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Trevor Lipscomb, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs. Grosse Pointe North is undefeated when Lipscomb posts two or more runs, but 2-19-1 otherwise. Jacob Jarackas was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame Prep waltzed into their contest on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Colts.

Notre Dame Prep's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Grosse Pointe North, their victory bumped their record up to 5-19-1.
