Baseball Game Preview: University Trojans vs. Woodbridge Warriors

The University Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Woodbridge Warriors at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. University will be strutting in after a win while Woodbridge will be coming in after a defeat.

If University beats Woodbridge with four runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Trojans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Laguna Hills 4-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Trojans.

Micah Von Dem Bussche tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, University saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brennan Collins, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Shawn Ho, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Woodbridge came up short against Irvine on Friday and fell 6-1. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

University's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Woodbridge, their loss dropped their record down to 14-7.

University came out on top in a nail-biter against Woodbridge in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
