Baseball Game Preview: Walled Lake Western Warriors vs. Milford Mavericks

The Walled Lake Western Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Milford Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Walled Lake Western will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Walled Lake Western not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 28th (when they won 23-6). They were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over Avondale.

Elishah Blanco made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lucas Hoffmeyer was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Walled Lake Western is undefeated when Hoffmeyer posts three or more RBI, but 10-14-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Vincent Roach, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Walled Lake Western was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Milford can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They blew past Walled Lake Central 11-5.

Walled Lake Western's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 13-14-2. As for Milford, their record now sits at 11-24.

Walled Lake Western beat Milford 11-7 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Do the Warriors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mavericks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
